OpenIreland is an organisation which promotes the benefits of ICT solutions based on open standards and open source software for businesses and public bodies. Its members are drawn from businesses, developers, users and integrators.

What we want:
OpenIreland supports organisations in Ireland that use or want to investigate benefits of software products that are available under open source licenses and do not impose lock-in on users.
What we do:
- Advocacy / promoting awareness. ISV, SI
- Skills matrix / directory
- Networking - OpenIreland promotes awareness of (open standards and) open
source software among service providers, user organisations in public
and private sectors. ISV, SI, EU
- OpenIreland acts as an advocate for open source software
and open standards in policy formulation and participates in national
and EU initiatives (through OpenForum Europe) that affect the IT industry. ISV, SI, EU
- OpenIreland have participated in the development of Certified Open, a certification scheme for the software solutions and for IT professionals.
- Advisory role - knowledge base / directory to access open source resources (solutions, skills, training, advice etc).
- OpenIreland develops reference models for Irish user groups
with special requirements and makes these models available to companies
that supply IT services.
